Epoxy Resin Application in Carbon Fiber Reinforced Resin Composite
Description
Carbon fiber reinforced resin composite or carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CRFP) is a new type of engineering material with high strength, high stiffness, light weight and other characteristics. CFRP has been widely used in aviation, aerospace, automotive, sports equipment and other fields.
Preparation of CFRP
Fiber pre-treatment
The surface condition of carbon fiber, as a reinforcing material for CFRP, has an important influence on the performance of the composite material. The traditional method is to use practices such as acid washing and oxidative external treatment, but it brings environmental pollution and toxicity problems. Nowadays, surface modification is achieved by using inorganic coating and nano-flake stripping technology to enhance the mechanical properties and durability of composites.
Resin matrix preparation
The resin matrix of CFRP is usually an epoxy or phenolic resin. During the preparation process, different ratios and curing conditions need to be adjusted to obtain the desired properties, considering the adhesion of the resin matrix to the fibers.
Composite of reinforcing material and matrix
In this step, fibers and resins need to be mixed and then layered and compressed to form a composite structure. Different methods of addition affect the properties of the material, such as unidirectional, bidirectional and multidirectional.
