As DOPO can react with various groups such as epoxy, double bond, carbonyl, halogen and amino group to prepare DOPO epoxy resin as a starting material, which is highly effective in flame retardancy and less likely to produce toxic gases, and is regarded as one of the most probable alternatives to halogen-containing flame retardants in the future.
There are mainly three types of DOPO modified phenolic epoxy resins ,including DOPO-HQ modified and DOPO-NQ modified and DOPO modified epoxy resin, with excellent flame retardancy, heat resistance, low toxicity and low water absorption and expansion coefficient. DOPO modified phenolic epoxy resins are halogen-free flame retardant epoxy resins, and are mainly used in the fields of halogen-free flame retardant printed circuit substrates, electronic copper-clad laminates and electrical laminates.
