1-Heptanol, also known as heptan-1-ol or heptyl alcohol, is a clear, colorless liquid with a mild, characteristic odor. It is slightly soluble in water but more soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and ether.
1-Heptanol is a colorless, oily liquid with a greasy and spicy aroma, similar to a citrus aroma. Boiling point 175°C, melting point -34.6°C, flash point 71°C. It is miscible in ethanol, non-volatile oil, and ether, and is extremely difficult to dissolve in water. Natural products are found in essential oils such as cloves, hyacinths, violet leaves, etc. It has good solubility, volatility, and stability, is an important solvent, intermediate and reactant, widely used in chemical, pharmaceutical, coatings, dyes, plastics, and other fields.
